The Veterans Administration Medical Center in Charleston is getting a grant to help it better serve homeless veterans.

Medical Center acting director Scott Isaacks, North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey, and other officials hold a news briefing at the medical center on Monday to announce the community resource and referral center grant.

Officials say the $530,000 VA grant will be used to establish the center allowing homeless vets to get needed services all in one place. Those services will include medical, mental health, and needs assessments. Vets can also find job assistance, legal aid, and things as simple as food and showers.

The center opens this fall in North Charleston.
