Colorado fire crews have been making slow but steady progress against the wildfire that has killed at least two people in Colorado Springs.

Officials are hoping for more of the relatively clear, calm weather that helped firefighting efforts Friday. They estimate the 26-square-mile fire to be 25 percent contained.

More than 30,000 people have been forced from their homes this week, but evacuation orders have been lifted for some neighborhoods.

Nearly 350 homes have been destroyed. Two bodies were found in the ruins of one home. But police say fewer than 10 people are unaccounted for.

Exhausted firefighters fresh off the front lines have been describing the devastation in some neighborhoods. One firefighter says fire was everywhere, and "everything had a square shape to it" because it was foundations of houses.

Elsewhere in the West:

- At least 60 homes near Pocatello, Idaho, were burned in a fast-moving wildfire that started Thursday evening.

- Residents of nearly a thousand homes in Herriman, Utah, southwest of Salt Lake City, are under an evacuation order after a wildfire destroyed at least four houses last night. And a 70-square-mile wildfire in Sanpete County destroyed at least 160 structures, more than 50 of them primary homes.

- Firefighters are also battling two out-of-control blazes in Wyoming.

- And residents of eastern and central Montana are returning to scorched neighborhoods, where 70 homes burned south of Roundup.
