UPDATE: Roads are expected to be back open by 5:30 p.m.
A gas leak from a natural gas line is causing traffic delays in south College Station.
Investigators say around 10:30 this morning, College Station Utilities crew was replacing wooden utility poles in the 4000 block of Highway 6 South. The crew accidently hit a six inch natural gas line causing the gas to leak.
Investigators blocked the southbound Barron Road exit from Highway 6 South and the southbound feeder road from Graham Road to Eagle Avenue.
Because this gas line feeds the entire city south of this location, Atmos Energy installed a temporary line bypassing the break before it can be repaired. It may be up to ten hours before the repair is completed and roads will remain blocked during that time.
