Republicans in Kansas and Wyoming weigh in today on the party's presidential contest, three days ahead of primaries in two important southern states, Alabama and Mississippi.

Hoping to tap into deep distrust of Washington, Rick Santorum suggested in Kansas yesterday that both President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney want to take away Americans' money and freedom so they can tell them how to live.

Newt Gingrich has been splitting his time in the key southern primary states. He's been under pressure to withdraw but insists he's campaigning all the way to the convention. He says there's a "fair chance" of victory in Mississippi and Alabama but that they're not must-wins.

Romney has been battling against a perceived weakness in the region. The Michigan native and former Massachusetts governor has been looking for ways to show he can relate to voters in the Deep South.
