NEW YORK (AP) - Anyone hoping to commune with Christopher Columbus on Columbus Day will be disappointed: He's booked solid. Monday's tickets to the art installation that surrounds a New York City statue of the explorer with a well-appointed living room have all been snapped up.

The exhibit, called "Discovering Columbus," is by Japanese artist Tatzu Nishi. It has become a must-see cultural attraction since it opened Sept. 20.

Visitors must climb six flights of stairs to reach the modern room surrounding the statue, with soaring windows offering views of Central Park and Midtown Manhattan.

The city's Public Art Fund is presenting the installation. Free tickets can be reserved at www.publicartfund.org. Some 20,000 people have seen it so far; 80,000 have made reservations for the exhibit, which runs through Nov. 18.
