BOSTON (AP) - Lawyers for Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev say they want to strengthen their argument to move his trial outside of Massachusetts.
Tsarnaev's lawyers on Tuesday filed a written request in court. In it, they asked U.S. District Judge George O'Toole Jr. to let them file additional materials to support their request for a venue change. They asked O'Toole to give them until Aug. 7.
The lawyers say that once they present an expert analysis of survey data and media coverage of the case, the judge will decide to move the trial outside the state. They have proposed Washington, D.C.
Tsarnaev is awaiting a November trial. Twin bombs placed near the finish line at the 2013 marathon killed three people and injured more than 260 others.
