ACAPULCO, Mexico (AP) - No significant injuries are reported, but the quake that struck near Mexico's Pacific coast resort of Acapulco today caused cracks in some buildings, and knocked bricks and plaster off of others.
The moderately strong quake had a magnitude of 6.2. It was centered about 60 miles east of Acapulco.
A state government spokesman says a chunk of ornamental plaster work fell off the facade of one hotel on Acapulco's main boulevard. Cracks were found in the walls of a university there, and a concrete entrance gate at a local military base collapsed.
Buildings swayed in Mexico City, 170 miles to the north. But the mayor there says there were no reports of damage or serious injuries.
