SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - A Santa Fe man has been charged with two counts of murder in the killings of a teenager and a woman. The Santa Fe New Mexican reports 54-year-old Arthur Anaya appeared in court Monday for his arraignment. Anaya did not enter a plea and the judge handling the arraignment kept Anaya's $1 million cash bond in place.
Santa Fe Sheriff's deputies, SWAT teams and other agents surrounded a barricaded home for several hours Friday before Anaya was taken into custody.
Fifty-one-year-old Theresa Vigil died from a gunshot wound to the head.
Investigators say she was shot in the trailer home she rented from Anaya.
Police say 16-year-old Austin Urban died after being shot in the mouth. Urban was dating Vigil's 17-year-old daughter.
