Obama, GOP Continue Sparring On Energy in Weekly Messages

President Barack Obama and Republicans again focused their weekly media messages on the high price of gasoline.

In his weekly radio and Internet address, Obama renewed his call for Congress to end tax subsidies for the oil and gas industry. He says the nation needs to develop alternative sources of energy in the face of rising gasoline prices.

He says such a vote would put lawmakers on record on whether they "stand up for oil companies" or "stand up for the American people."

For the GOP, Colorado Rep. Cory Gardner says his constituents have been hard hit by an increase in gasoline prices and are "fed up."

He placed the blame squarely on Obama, saying high gas prices "are a symptom of his failed 'stimulus' policies."
