Authorities say a Houston-area police officer has been critically hurt after his patrol car hit a truck during the search for a shooting suspect.
The Texas Department of Public Safety says the Splendora officer was injured early Monday in an accident in Montgomery County, near New Caney. The front of the patrol vehicle ended up wedged under the trailer of the 18-wheeler.
The officer was transported to a hospital. DPS did not immediately provide the officer's name or further details on his condition. Splendora police also did not provide more information.
Investigators say the shooting victim was transported to a hospital and is expected to survive. The suspect has not been caught.
Splendora is a town of about 1,600, located 30 miles northeast of Houston.
