PHOENIX (AP) The embattled Phoenix VA Health Care System is getting a new acting director.
The Department of Veterans Affairs announced Friday that Glenn Costie will temporarily serve as acting director starting July 9.
Costie has been the director of the Dayton VA in Ohio since December 2011.
He reportedly will work in Phoenix for up to four months and oversee delivery of health care to some 85,000 veterans and an operating budget of about $500 million.
Phoenix VA Director Sharon Helman remains on administrative leave. She was placed on leave May 1 following allegations that some veterans may have died waiting for appointments and schedulers manipulated records.
Costie will replace Steve Young, who was appointed interim director on May 9.
The VA said in a statement that Young's departure was planned.
