A U.S. report released today offers a dim outlook for the near future in Iraq.
The semiannual report by the special inspector general for Iraq
reconstruction says Iraq's government, economy, legal systems and
basic services remain unstable.
And it says unless Iraqi security forces get more help in a hurry, they may not be able to protect the country from insurgents and invaders after American troops leave.
