Residents To Tour Areas Devastated By Colo. Blaze

Even people who know their homes are still standing have some anxiety over temporary visits being allowed today to wildfire-devastated neighborhoods around Colorado Springs.

About 10,000 people are still out of their homes, having been among 30,000 who initially fled the most destructive fire in Colorado's history. Many taking the tour today will find only ash and rubble.

Authorities say some residences will be cordoned off with police tape, and people won't be allowed beyond that point.

The 26-square-mile fire is 45 percent contained and is one of many burning across the West, including others in Colorado as well as blazes in Utah, Montana, Wyoming and Idaho.

Colorado firefighting crews say the weather is getting hotter and dryer, which could hamper their efforts.
