Spring cleaning in Texas includes more than just homes.
The Texas General Land Office says the next cleanup of Gulf beaches has been scheduled for April 20.
Thousands of Adopt-A-Beach volunteers have removed an average of 500 tons of trash each year for Texas beaches as part of two cleanups annually. The fall effort will be held Sept. 28.
State officials say more than two dozen check-in sites are available for the next beach cleanup. Volunteers can choose a location and register online.
The Texas Adopt-A-Beach cleanup program began in 1986.
