FALFURRIAS, Texas- A South Texas grand jury has indicted a man accused of fatally beating his estranged wife with a dumbbell and fleeing to Michigan.
The Brooks County Sheriff's Office says 40-year-old Eusbeio DeLeon of Falfurrias is held on charges of murder and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
Jail records Thursday did not list an attorney for DeLeon, whose bond has been set at $510,000. He was indicted Wednesday.
Investigators say 34-year-old Erika Cantu DeLeon died March 28, two days after being found beaten in her Falfurrias home.
The Corpus Christi Caller-Times reports police in Ann Arbor, Mich., on March 29 arrested DeLeon at a University of Michigan hospital. Doctors became suspicious after the man sought some medication.
Police confiscated the victim's SUV from her husband.
