The race was on to get into Reed Arena to welcome home the National Champion Texas A&M Aggies.
Thousands of fans packed the arena to welcome the women with an awesome Aggie applause.
As the team took the stage, A&M President R. Bowen Loftin introduced Head Coach Gary Blair as the best women's basketball coach in the world. Blair talked about his decision to come to A&M.
"I said I wasn't interested in coming to A&M unless A&M was committed to building champions. I've won enough ball games, I had enough money. Well, not quite yet Bill, we need to talk," joked Blair.
Senior Guard Sydney Colson reflected on the chances people gave A&M on winning it all.
"So many people on TV and all around the nation weren't believing in us, didn't think that we could get to this point. But we knew that we had the support of the Aggie nation and the Aggie family and we could feel the spirit with us even when y'all weren't there," said Colson.
The silent assassin Tyra White got the crowd to anticipate what she might say, but remained fairly silent.
"Gig'em," is all White said jokingly after silencing the crowd.
And junior guard Sydney Carter reminded fans that their support makes all the difference in the world.
"I really hope that you guys take this into consideration and come see us play next year because it's only going to get better from here," said Carter.
Coach Gary Blair closed out the celebration with a few travel plans.
"I've been waiting for this all my life, to be able to win and say, I'm going to Disney World, " said Blair.
But Coach Blair doesn't plan on stopping in Florida.
"We want to go to Washington D.C. We want to go to the Rose Garden. We want to let these kids be honored like true champions," said Blair.
