LONDON (AP) - Prince William, his wife Kate and their new baby boy have left a London hospital.
The royal couple appeared happy and relaxed as they emerged from the hospital with the prince who is third in line to the British throne. It was the public's first glimpse of the boy who was born yesterday.
Kate told reporters, "It's very emotional. It's such a special time." She said, "I think any parent will know what this feeling feels like."
She then gave the baby to her husband, who said, "He's got her looks, thankfully." He added, "He's a big boy. He's quite heavy." And when he was asked about the baby's hair, he said, "He's got way more than me, thank God."
William said he and his wife are still deciding what to name the baby.
They then re-entered the hospital to place the child in a car seat before re-emerging to get into an SUV. William then drove them away. Palace officials said they were headed to an apartment in Kensington Palace.
Today's much-anticipated appearance outside the hospital recalls a similar event three decades ago. Princess Diana and Prince Charles carried the newborn William out to pose for photographs on the same steps in 1982.
