ORANGE, Texas (AP) A 17-year-old suspect has been charged with murder after police in Southeast Texas found a man fatally shot in a burned car.
Orange County jail records show Rashawn Dewayne Morris was being held Wednesday without bond. Jail records don't list an attorney for Morris, who was arrested Tuesday night.
Orange police late Monday responded to a report of a car fire at the end of a street. Officers found an unresponsive man in the vehicle. Police say 19-year-old Dominique Marquis Janise of Orange was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Investigators later determined Janise had been shot and secured a murder warrant for Morris. Jail records show Morris also faces simple assault and failure to appear charges. Details weren't immediately available on those counts.
Orange is 100 miles northeast of Houston.
