JASPER, Texas (AP) - A Jasper couple is accused of binding a
four-year-old boy with duct tape at a day care and dangling him
over a trash bin -- to punish him.
Child endangerment charges have been filed against 48-year-old
George Block and his wife, 47-year-old Julia Block. She's manager
of the Young Years Day Care Center in Jasper.
Each could get up to two years in state jail if convicted.
Both are free on $5,000 bond. Each declined comment.
An affidavit says George Block bound the boy's wrists and feet
on March 3rd with duct tape before dangling him over a trash bin at
the center.
Court papers say Julia Block approved her husband's actions as
discipline for the boy "after a day of very disruptive behavior."
The boy told investigators what allegedly happened to him.
Jasper police say they don't believe race played a role in the
alleged incident.
The Blocks are white. The child is black.
