American Airlines pilots complain about training equipment

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - Some pilots at Fort Worth-based
American Airlines say the company isn't offering enough training on
new cockpit equipment.
The pilots have rented a billboard near Dallas-Fort Worth
International Airport to blame the nation's largest carrier for
canceled and delayed flights.
A brief demonstration was held yesterday.
About 50 pilots protested near American's headquarters that the
company hasn't trained them adequately on digital screens for the
cockpits of American's Boeing 757 and 767 jets.
The screens will replace dials that indicate readings such as
air speed and altitude.
American spokeswoman Tami McLallen says the airline has gone
beyond the minimum requirements to familiarize pilots with the new,
state-of-the-art screens.
