AUSTIN (AP) - Houston's Joe Jamail (juh-MAIL') is donating
another 15 million dollars to his alma mater -- the University of
Texas.
The funding from the 82-year-old lawyer was announced today.
The school in Austin is naming one of its main public rooms in
honor of Lee Hage Jamail -- Jamail's late wife.
Main 212, which has been used by the UT Board of Regents and has
been the site of numerous public announcements, will be the Lee
Hage Jamail Academic Room.
The campus is already home to the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas
Swimming Center, Joe Jamail Field and the football stadium, the
Joseph D. Jamail Pavilion and the Joseph D. Jamail Center for Legal
Research.
Ten million dollars of the latest donation will go to the law
school, with the rest split between undergraduate programs and the
nursing school.
Jamail says he's just doing what any decent guy with enough
money to do it -- should do.
