CONROE, Texas (AP) - A parked sport utility vehicle rolled
backward over a pregnant woman and her toddler daughter near Conroe
--- killing the little girl.
27-year-old Vanessa Beier and her 14-month old daughter were
taken to the hospital after the accident Wednesday afternoon. The
toddler later died.
Doctors performed an emergency Caesarean section on Beier, but
the conditions of the mother and newborn were not immediately
Neighbor David Glenna said another man knocked on his door to
alert him. Glenna said he grabbed a jack and put it under the car.
Then he and a neighbor hoisted the vehicle.
When he managed to pull the girl from under the vehicle, her
eyes were open and she was breathing rapidly, Glenna said.
Glenna says Beier was yelling, "Help me! Help me!" But
emergency dispatchers advised them not to move the mother.
Firefighters arrived a few minutes later and removed Beier.
