PASADENA, Texas (AP) - His attorney says a Pasadena man who shot
and killed two men he suspected of burglarizing his neighbor's home
-- regrets the action.
A Harris County grand jury this week is hearing evidence in the
case of 61-year-old Joe Horn.
Horn killed 38-year-old Hernando Riascos Torres and 30-year-old
Diego Ortiz last year.
Ortiz and Torres were unemployed illegal immigrants from
Colombia.
The shootings touched off protests from minority activists that
were met by counter-protests from Horn's supporters.
Defense lawyer Tom Lambright told the Houston Chronicle that the
case has affected Horn terribly -- and if he had it to do over
again, he'd stay inside.
Horn called 911 to report a burglary, and a dispatcher
repeatedly told Horn to stay inside.
On the tape, Horn is heard threatening the two burglary suspects
before they were shot.
