ODESSA, Texas (AP) - A 23-year-old Odessa man's body has been
found in a ditch and four people are jailed today on murder
Bond is $500,000 apiece for the suspects -- 20-year-old Derek
Elms, 18-year-old Willie Carl Hurst, 19-year-old Heather Mitchell
and 20-year-old Kathleen Newbury.
Police say one of the suspects led them to a ditch where Robert
Clayton Thornhill Junior's body was discovered yesterday. He'd been
missing since May 21st.
An affidavit indicates the suspects say Thornhill's throat was
slit and he was shot with a crossbow.
Police haven't released a motive.
The victim's mother, Karen Thornhill, told the Odessa American
that her son has certain learning disabilities.
