DALLAS -- Dallas business leaders are welcoming Friday's news that AT&T is relocating its corporate headquarters from San Antonio.
AT&T chairman Randall Stephenson says being headquartered in Dallas will benefit the company's long-term growth prospects and human resources.
The area has two airports and is home to American Airlines and Southwest Airlines.
Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert says it's a terrific day for the city. His office says AT&T already has about 13,000 employees in the Dallas area.
Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff says AT&T "outgrew" San Antonio.
Wolff also says he and current Mayor Phil Hardberger met with Stephenson this week and the CEO gave no indication that AT&T was planning to bolt.
AT&T expects the move to involve about 700 of its nearly 6,000 San Antonio-based workers heading for offices in downtown Dallas.
