VALERA, Texas (AP) - A 38-year-old Brownwood stunt pilot died
when his plane crashed into vehicles at a Fourth of July
celebration at the T-Bone Ranch near Valera.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National
Transportation Safety Board are investigating Saturday night's
crash at the private holiday celebration.
The Abilene Reporter-News reports that witnesses said it
appeared the plane had engine problems.
Coleman County Justice of the Peace William Campbell pronounced
Benny J. Carnes dead at the scene.
Carnes was performing stunt maneuvers when the plane came down
in a parking lot, hitting two cars. No one on the ground was
Department of Public Safety Senior Trooper Sparky Dean said the
plane came close to several bystanders.
