DALLAS (AP) - A Texas congressman is defending a fundraiser at a
burlesque show in Las Vegas that claimed to put the, quote,
"'tease' back into the Strip."
A spokesman for Republican Representative Pete Sessions of
Dallas tells the Dallas Morning News that the March 2007 party at
Forty Deuce was at a, quote, "PG-13 venue." The show is at
Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino.
Guy Harrison says the club is about as risque as a 1940s film.
But conservative activists claim to be offended by the
fundraiser for Sessions' political action committee, People for
Enterprise Trade and Economic Growth.
Cathie Adams, president of the Texas Eagle Forum, says she was
shocked to hear the location of the fundraiser. She doesn't think
it was representative of the voters in Sessions' district.
"I don't think that it's representative of the constituents of
the district," Adams said.
The Forty Deuce Web site says sensual dancers slowly slink down
the stairs to the stage and lean out over the crowd.
Dallas County Democratic Party chairwoman Darlene Ewing says
Sessions is a, quote, "boring guy," and the fundraiser might help
his image.
