HOUSTON (AP) - Rather than go to trial, a former fifth-grade
teacher and her husband pleaded guilty to assaulting school
children before a district judge.
Brandy Lynn Gonzales, who is 28, sobbed quietly while pleading
guilty on yesterday to four counts of aggravated sexual assault of
a child and one count of indecency with a child.
The Houston Chronicle reports her 33-year-old husband Johnny
Gonzales pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual assault of a child.
Prosecutors say the couple sexually assaulted five boys who were
Prosecutors say the students alleged the former teacher would
touch them under their desks and sexually assaulted them at her
apartment and at movie theaters.
Each Gonzales faces between five to 99 years or life in prison.
Their sentencing is scheduled to be held in October before state
District Judge Michael McSpadden.
