CANTON, Texas (AP) - Some folks in the latest town called Canton
that's targeted by TV comedian Stephen Colbert aren't happy about it.
A city councilman in Canton, Texas, thinks Colbert is a sucker.
Councilman John Fuller says if Colbert heads for Canton, about
55 miles southeast of Dallas, the elected official will "mash his
nose."
Fuller spoke with the Tyler Morning Telegraph about the ongoing
gag on the Comedy Central show "The Colbert Report."
Colbert has been taking pot shots at a variety of towns named
Canton. It began when he referred to a Georgia town as "the crappy
Canton."
Colbert then focused on Canton, Kansas, followed by Canton,
South Dakota.
Canton, Texas, -- population of about 5,100 -- has invited
Colbert to the town's famed monthly flea market called "First
Monday Trade Days."
