A small plane crashed in a wooded area of southeastern San Antonio, killing both people aboard.

Fire officials say the crash happened shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday about a half-mile southeast of the end of and in line with one of the Stinson Municipal Airport runways. Fire spokeswoman Deborah Foster confirmed that both people aboard the aircraft died, but she had no identities or other details.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Tony Molinaro said late Sunday the plane was a Mooney M20 that was on its way to Fredricksburg, Texas. The aircraft was registered to Niclan Corp.
