Baby Dies, Left in Car For Over 5 Hours

A 7 month old baby girl died Friday after her grandfather left her in the back seat of his car for more than five hours while he was at work at an elementary school.

No foul play is suspected and the baby had no visible injuries, said Houston police Sgt. Robert Odom.
He told the Houston Chronicle for its Friday online editions that the case will be referred to a Harris County grand jury without charges.

Odom said the man, who was supposed to have taken the baby to a
day-care center, apparently forgot that his granddaughter was in
his vehicle.
Highs on Friday reached into the 80s in the Houston area.
