A 6' 4" bronze rattler sculpture was unveiled Thrusday night in front of Rattler Stadium in Navasota.

The bronze statue was created for Navasota ISD by 1990 Navasota High School graduate J. Payne Lara.

It was paid for with donations made by local individuals and businesses with the help of Chuck Frede, local Navasota businessman, and former Navasota ISD Superintendent, Dr. John C. Webb.

The community turned out for both the dedication ceremony and a Rattler pep rally followed the dedication to support the 9-0 District 24-3A Champion Rattlers as they take on the Silsbee Tigers Friday in Huntsville for the Class 3A Region III Regional Championship.

The game will take place on the campus of Sam Houston State University and will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
