The agriculture industry has been hit hard by the recent drought. But relief is on the way.

The U-S Department of Agriculture has designated six counties in Brazos Valley as natural disaster areas thanks to the lack of rain.

Farmers and ranchers in Burleson, Brazos, Grimes, Leon, Madison and Robertson counties can now apply for emergency loan applications through the Farm Service Agency.

According to the agency, other than 2007, Texas has been in a drought for 5 to 7 years.

To get more information on the loans, you can contact the F-S-A Office in Franklin at 979-828-3338.

The low interest loans are averaging $150 thousand dollars each.
