Authorities say three people in a glider have been killed after their light aircraft went down in a Southeast Texas field.

The Texas Department of Public Safety says the crash happened around 5 p.m. Sunday near Wallis, south of Houston.

DPS on Monday did not immediately provide names of the man, the woman and the boy who died.

The Federal Aviation Administration says the crash happened shortly after takeoff when the glider was released from a tow aircraft. DPS says the glider went into a nose dive and crashed.

Investigators are trying to determine what caused the accident.
