College campus are a place where new ideas are discussed and students are able to embrace new liberties. Tuesday night State Senator Jeff Wentworth will talk about a liberty that's getting plenty of discussion, the right to carry a concealed weapon on college campuses. Wentworth authored Senate bill 1164 the first of the year and it has been met with plenty of debate, on both sides of the issue. Wentworth told News 3 earlier this year, the massacre at Virginia Tech might have been avoided had someone been armed.
Wentworth will give a speech on the concealed carry on campus issue Tuesday night at 7 at the Memorial Student Center Room 206. He was invited by the Texas A&M College Republicans.
