Fire officials say one person was killed and two others injured when a building collapsed this afternoon in southeast Houston.
The two victims were taken to area hospitals. Their conditions
were not known.
Rescue crews from the Houston Fire Department managed to pull
two of the victims from the splintered building, but the third
victim died under the rubble.
Assistant Fire Chief Tommy Dowdy says the crews continued to
search the rubble for other possible victims using dogs and remote
The 149-unit apartment complex was in the process of being
renovated when it collapsed around 4 p.m.
