Last year the weaving operations shut down, laying off 140 workers. Now the finishing and die-cutting part of the plant will stop. When that happens Mt. Vernon Mills in Brenham will close it's doors, letting the rest of it's workforce go. There were 90 people working there earlier this year, but the workforce has been pared down the last few months to about 50 workers.
City leaders in Brenham have been told the plant will officially close May 15th.
