Searchers have recovered the body of a former Major League Baseball player who apparently drowned while fishing below Lake Livingston Dam Thursday afternoon.

Authorities say the body of Jessie Hollins, 39, was found about 4 pm Friday close to the area where he entered the Trinity River. The Trinity River Authority temporarily suspended discharges from Lake Livingston to assist searchers who used sonar and divers to hunt for Hollins.

Hollins lived in Willis but grew up in Conroe. He played professional baseball for the Chicago Cubs organization and pitched in the major leagues for one season.
