A judge is denying a new trial to a prominent Democratic fundraiser convicted earlier this year of illegally presenting himself out to be a lawyer.
The Corpus Christi Caller-Times reports that visiting state District Judge Sid Harle of Bexar County ruled that evidence didn't support the claim of Mauricio Celis claim that Judge Mark Luitjen was biased.
Celis attorney David Botsford said the alleged bias would be part of Celis' appeal.
