Three people have been arrested in connection with the death of a three-year-old boy in Montgomery County.
Crystal Tijerna, 26; Noah Herrera, 30; and Steven Paul Chauvin, 47 were taken into custody Tuesday, each charged with injury to a child.
Tijerna is named by authorities as the child's aunt. Herrera is Tijerna's boyfriend and lived in the home in question, as did Chauvin.
A preliminary autopsy revealed the child, who has not yet been identified by authorities, died of blunt force trauma to the body.
Just after 6:40 p.m. Monday, deputies arrived at the child's home on Edgefield Lane in East Montgomery County. Upon arrival the child was not breathing. He was rushed to St. Luke's Hospital in The Woodlands by ambulance where he was pronounced dead an hour later.
According to detectives from the Major Crimes Unit, the child appeared to have suffered some sort of recent trauma.
There were several adults and other children living at the boy's residence. Child Protective Services removed five children from the home. The children's ages ranged from 2 to 12 years. They will remain in CPS custody.
Charges could be upgraded as the investigation continues, according to the sheriff's office.
