The hunt for a Central Texas serial rapist is getting some reinforcements. The Texas Rangers have joined the investigation into a series of home invasions in which elderly women were attacked.

The most recent assault happened last weekend in Marlin. Leon County Deputies, who are working with the Falls County Sheriff's Office, say the suspect broke in through a garage door around 5:30 Saturday morning, stole money and raped a woman in her late 70's.

Deputies say the crime is similar to two incidents in Marquez, one of which has been linked by DNA to a sexual assault in Yoakum which could be related to a second attack in Yoakum.

The rape in Marqez was also linked to one in the Bell County town of Zabcikville.
