WASHINGTON (October 20, 2009)--A Fort Hood Soldier died Sunday Morning in Iraq.
The Department of Defense announced Monday that 22-year-old Army Pfc. Daniel Rivera died Sunday morning in an accident in Mosul.
Authorities say the circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.
Rivera was from Rochester, New York but was assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division based at Fort Hood.
He joined the Army in October 2008 and had been assigned to the division’s 3rd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team since December 2008.
Relatives in western New York say he was scheduled to return to the Rochester area in November to spend Thanksgiving with his family.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
