NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. -- Before Texas and Alabama play for the national championship, there will be a reunion of sorts.
For the first time in months, Texas defensive coordinator Will
Muschamp will have a chance to catch up with his coaching mentor,
Alabama boss Nick Saban.
Muschamp was 29 when Saban hired him at LSU in 2001. They won a
national championship together in '03, then Muschamp followed when
Saban went to the Miami Dolphins in 2005.
A year later, Muschamp went to work at Auburn. Saban ended up at
rival Alabama, and in 2007 they coached against each other for the
first time.
Longhorns fans, take note: Muschamp's team won.
