DALLAS (AP) - Temperatures dipped below freezing in north Texas
as some schools and offices closed during the hazardous winter
travel conditions.

Freezing rain was reported in the Dallas-Fort Worth area on
Thursday morning.

Gov. Rick Perry ordered the activation of the National Guard and
other state resources as a precaution for any weather-related
emergencies. Personnel and equipment were positioned in Corsicana,
Huntsville, Lufkin, Marshall and New Boston.

The Texas Health and Human Services Department delayed
until 10 a.m. Thursday in the opening of offices in North Texas.
