HOUSTON - A high school student accused of hiring a classmate to kill his mother says he wasn't involved in the November stabbing.
"I was not involved in my mother's killing," Danish Moazzam Minhas, 17, told the Houston Chronicle in a jail interview.
Minhas is accused of hiring Nur J. Mohamed, 18, to kill Tabassum Khan, who was stabbed multiple times. The 43-year-old woman was attacked during a home invasion, police said.
Both teens have been charged with capital murder and are being held without bail.
Minhas, who said he loved and missed his mother, pointed the finger at Mohamed.
Minhas also praised investigators by name during the interview.
"They did what they had to do. They are wonderful human beings who put all this work into solving my mother's case," Minhas said.
Attorneys for the teens say they still haven't reviewed all the evidence in the case.
Prosecutors say both students gave statements admitting their involvement.
