AUSTIN, Texas -- It's primary election day in Texas.
The polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Republican Gov. Rick Perry and challenger U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison are making their last public appearances as she seeks his job.
Both candidates planned to be in Dallas to start the day -- with Hutchison at a polling place, and Perry taking part in a Texas Independence Day celebration.
Activist Debra Medina is also seeking the GOP nomination .
If no one wins a majority today -- the top two finishers will face off April 13.
The Republican winner will face the Democratic nominee in the Nov. 2 general election.
Ex-Houston Mayor Bill White is favored among the Democrats over Houston hair-care magnate Farouk Shami and five others.
