Fort Worth police say a toddler who apparently wandered from his house on a hot afternoon died after being located in a neighbor's car.
Police say a step stool near the vehicle led to the discovery of the 18-month-old boy Thursday afternoon. The child was transported to a hospital and pronounced dead. His name was not immediately released.
The National Weather Service says temperatures were in the 90s
Thursday afternoon in Fort Worth.
Sgt. Chad Mahaffey says an officer had been dispatched to the
residence after the boy's parents, who work night shifts and had been asleep, awoke and realized the toddler was gone.
Mahaffey says the boy's grandmother usually watches the youngster, but she apparently left to visit a relative while the boy also was sleeping.
