Law officers at a South Texas border crossing have confiscated nearly a third of a million dollars in unreported cash hidden in a car.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection on Thursday announced the seizure of slightly more than $333,000 at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry.

Investigators say the currency was in 18 bundles discovered Wednesday in the undercarriage and dashboard of the vehicle.

The driver has been taken into federal custody.

Cash being carried into and out of the U.S. must be declared if the amount is $10,000 or higher.
