The Galveston Police Department has canceled an Amber Alert for missing 6-year-old Tiana Duarte and her sister, 10-year-old Makayla Duarte.
Authorities say the suspect, Marisol Duarte, dropped the children off with their grandmother, who cares for them. The children are safe.
She called CPS to let them know she dropped them off, but Galveston police are still investigating. They're not sure sure whether she'll be charged.
Duarte is the children's mother. She has supervised visitation rights, but it's her mother who cares for the children.
Authorities say Marisol has been in touch with a CPS case worker since she took the kids, but when she didn't return them when she said she would, CPS reached out to the Galveston Police Department, which then issued the Amber Alert.
