Atmos Warning Customers About Spam Emails

BRYAN- Atmos Energy is warning customers to be on the lookout for a suspicious email.
In a recent email to its e-Bill customers, Atmos Energy said spammers are sending their customers emails and the spammers claim to be with the company. The emails contain links that lead to websites that install malware on your computer. The company urges customers to delete the emails and not click on any of the links.
Atmos says no accounts have been affected.
Here's the full text of the email Atmos sent to its e-Bill customers:

-Scam Alert-

As an Atmos Energy e-Bill customer you are accustomed to receiving your monthly bill notice by email. We would like to inform you of a widespread email scam which portrays a bogus Atmos Energy bill. The emails have been sent to individuals nationwide including Atmos Energy customers.
The "phishing" message references a fake account number and contains links to fraudulant websites. The email provides links to mislead you in believing you are going to view your bill, learn more about natural gas or view bill inserts. Actually, the links lead you to a compromised website that hides malware. We are asking anyone who receives that deceptive email to delete it immediately and do not click on any links.
Please be assured your Atmos Energy account has not been affected and Atmos Energy's systems remain secure. Helping you maintain the security of your account information is important to us. Please visit the Atmos Energy website to view your bill and make any necessary payments.
